As you approach the house, its stepped roofs incorporating crisp straight lines standout immediately. The detailing of the Sho Sugi Ban charred timber against its recessed highlight windows presents a level of class and character rarely seen.
Walking through the beautifully appointed native landscaped entrance, your eyes are drawn to the timber staircase and charred timber entrance gate beyond. The moment the oversized gate swings open, you are enticed into a magnificent courtyard, inviting you to come in and enjoy this remarkable home. The walls of the courtyard, lined in both charred and sawn timber, tower over you and make you feel protected and embraced. From the secret fixed cladding boards, perfectly aligned decking and screws, large sliding doors that disappear into wall cavities and the huge single pane glass windows providing light and sight throughout the home - the craftsmanship is evident in every finish.
Once inside you are presented with extremely detailed sawn French Oak flooring with its hand applied stains highlighting its sawn texture which are unique and one of a kind. Evolving Construction has worked through extreme hardships on this project including a worldwide pandemic, an overseas client with limited physical presence, the unfortunate resignation of the architect, a very tight budget, material shortages, extreme material cost escalations, construction site shutdowns, and national and international lockdowns just to name a few. This project has tested the absolute fabric of Evolving Construction. We have collectively risen to the challenge and not only overcome but succeeded to complete what we believe to be one of the most well constructed, finely detailed homes in Australia if not the world.
